The corpses of inmates from Lambach concentration camp (a sub-camp of Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp) are removed from the camp by German soldiers under order of U.S. troops and await burial. Lambach concentration camp held some 18,000 people, with each barrack housing 1,600 inmates. When U.S. forces arrived at the camp, they found no beds or sanitary facilities available to the prisoners and 40 to 50 prisoners continued to die daily after liberation due to starvation and disease.
